Teri Kindly attended the NEDBC AGM on behalf of the club last week and has also provided notes from this meeting as shown below -
The AGM part of the meeting was thus:
- Chair's Welcome - lots of thanks to different people and
talking about the changes to come in cricket (e.g. the preference of younger
members for 20 over cricket)
- Financial Report (I've also got a copy of the financial
report which I'll circulate.
- The committee was re-elected en masse - still no deputy
chair so the position is being left open (if anyone is interested, get in touch
with the chair)
The meeting closed at 8.27pm - a very short AGM.
The overall messages from the meeting which
followed (the ones I understood being somewhat novice in this area) were:
- ICC tour was a success - lots of very positive feedback
from clubs and individuals
- If anyone has put in for 'Inspire' funds (I don't know
what this means), there's a delay for some reason, just keep waiting for news
for now
- The Natwest Oscars have been launched - it's being held in
Chelmsford, and it's to reward those who work hard
- Long Service Awards - nominations are open, they are for
those who have served 25 years or more in your club
- Overseas players - NHS rules have changed and overseas
players may not qualify for treatment should they sustain injury
- Helmets - a poster has been circulated to clubs (I have a
paper copy too to put up if it hasn't arrived) - check the guidelines and make
sure that we are aware of them, and more importantly, ensure that we are
keeping parents etc. in the know
- Welfare officer - all clubs must ensure that they are up
to date with safeguarding, as by Christmas, the post of a Welfare Officer will
be mandatory. New people to the post will need the full training; if the same
person is continuining, they can do the online 'topup' which takes about 40
minutes and can be done from home
- Final of the Women's Super League is taking place in
Chelmsford - very exciting
- Take advantage of the Waitrose Community Days - one of us
needs to pop into the Waitrose in town, talk to a lady called Christina,
there's a chance of an award which is given out monthly of £1000 - she's very
keen for clubs to contact her
- Talk to Graham if there are any pressing funding needs
- Are we getting info about the ground association?
(it's a separate mailing list). If not, contact the chair of the committee and
he'll get us added.
- There has been a tail-off in presentation evening
attendance - they're looking at alternatives to trophies (such as pennants) so
that they can be displayed around clubs.
- Maria (secretary) wants all club secretaries to
contact her with up to date contact details (even if you think you've contacted
her recently, she wants them again) - her email: mariastockdale@hotmail.com
There was a talk from Dan Porter from the Essex
Cricket Foundation (for funding to enhance the 'cricket environment') - he's
circulated a leaflet which I'll text around via the Whatsapp.
I've covered the main points of business - there were
the odd little anecdotes from people around the room which were clearly
intended for those in the room who knew them, so I've left them out.
Any questions, please let me know.
All the best
Teri
